Whybe a Mother - A part of me, a part of you

as a tiny little egg a part of him was with you and your mama.

A friend recently said this to me and it took a while to sink in.

Kai, my son, my baby, you have been a part of me for as long as life has existed… well, as long as the female lineage has continued in my family. You have been a part of me for ages, and I, a part of you. The special bond we already share before you officially make your entrance into the world is something I’m not sure I will ever be able to fully express in human words.

What was once just a concept in our minds, you’ve manifested into a human being, an individual with a shape. A shape that continues to push my belly out into the world, boldly marking your space in this universe. You kick me and make your presence known, and I will cherish this time right now before you have yet to be felt from the outside.

Did you know that on one of our first dates, your Daddy and I talked about you? We talked about your name, and what it would be like to live a life with you in it. So you see, you’ve always been a part of me. A part of us.

I used to think that I would be claustrophobic - I even started feeling overwhelmed just thinking about another human being inside of me for 9 months. That is the farthest thing from the truth now as I I want to hold you close forever and protect you with everything I have.
